Who it is for

Anyone who wants to be associated with the ICM and the principles behind its work on conflict management and the prevention and management of work-related violence: prevention, proportionate risk management, communication and de-escalation, dignity and rights, safe practice and continuous improvement. You do not need to work for a Quality Award Centre, and you do not need to submit a CV or qualifications.

What members commit to

Membership is a values commitment. Members agree to act lawfully, honestly and with integrity; treat people with dignity and respect; support proportionate, prevention-focused practice and the least restrictive approach; work within their own competence; and avoid false or misleading claims about their status or ICM recognition. The full wording is in the Member Values and Membership Agreement, which we send with your application.

What membership is not. ICM Member is an individual professional association status. It is not an assessment of your competence, trainer approval, or course or organisational accreditation. It does not make you a Recognised Trainer Assessor and is not required for Quality Award Centre status. If you want your trainers, course or centre recognised, see the routes below.

How to join

  1. Email us to request the Member Application and Annual Renewal form.
  2. Complete and return the form, including your agreement to the Member Values and Membership Agreement.
  3. Pay the £95 annual fee. Membership starts once your application is accepted and the fee is received.
  4. Renew each year. Renewal is the fee, current contact details and renewed agreement to the values. No CV or CPD record is needed.
